Dear Sisterhood of the Traveling Summer
Shorts,
I am both very excited for all of you
yet at the same time a little saddened.
I am excited because this is going to be a very fun and memorable book
for all of you. I am a little sad
because you are all growing up so quickly and becoming so much more independent. This is the first meeting you girls are
conducting without us. Please, Please do
me one HUGE favor today at your meeting.
I bet you can all guess what it is J.
Take a picture for me so you can all remember this first meeting without
us.
I know many of you have just started the
book. The purpose of this meeting today
is to:
discuss the beginning of the book,
review the Official Rules of The Summer
Shorts together,
and to unveil the Official Summer Shorts
of 2015
There is an envelope labeled Official Rules, and one envelope with
each of your names on it. The same thing
is in each of the envelopes. There is a
copy of this letter and a copy of The Rules.
Each of you please take your envelope now. I would like you to read The Rules together
so please do not read ahead. Once
everyone has their envelope, open them together and take turns reading The
Rules. On the second page there is a
place for each of you to sign. Please
sign everyone’s so you each have a copy for yourselves to keep. The one marked Official Rules is for me.
Please all sign that one as well and return to me.
Once The Rules have been read and signed
by each of you, the shorts can be unveiled.
Again, please do this together as a group.
There are also discussion questions in
your envelope. These we can go over in
August together. I just wanted you to
have them to think about.

We,
the Embarrassing Moms of the Sisterhood of the Rambunctious Readers, hereby
instate the rules to govern the use of the traveling Summer Shorts:
Remember:
Summer
Shorts = Love. Love your pals. Love yourself.
1. You must always be
wearing clean underwear before you put the Summer Shorts on.
2.
You
must SMILE and think of the strength, love and support your Sisterhood gives
you as you are putting the shorts on.
3 3. You must try to
wear them everyday that you have the shorts (each day when you put them on
referring to rules #1 and #2 above)
4 4. You must follow
the proper procedure for documenting your time in the Summer Shorts. You must document the places you have been in
them, the things you did, who you did them with and what your feelings were at
the time
5. You must write,
blog or text your Sisterhood throughout the summer, no matter how much fun you are having.
6. You must have
several pictures from your experience with the Summer Shorts. One picture must include your Mom either wearing a
crazy hat or mooning us. You must be doing something amazing in
every picture you have in the Summer Shorts.
7.. No boys are ever
allowed to wear the Summer Shorts.
8. You must pass the
shorts along to your Sisters according to the Official Summer Shorts Schedule
attached.
9. You must wash the
Summer Shorts before you pass them on.
10.
You
must write a note to the Sister receiving the Summer Shorts. You must include a copy of these rules and a
favorite candy of choice with the Summer Shorts each time they are passed on to
the next Sister.
