The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants

Ann Brashares

Some friends just fit together.

Once there was a pair of pants. Just an ordinary pair of jeans. But these pants, the Traveling Pants, went on to do great things. This is the story of the four friends—Lena, Tibby, Bridget, and Carmen—who made it possible.

  1. The book The Sisterhood of the traveling pants was a good read, but wasn't my favorite book. I felt that at some points the story moved kind of slowly, however the concept of keeping friends together through a pair of pants was very clever. In fact, our book club did the same thing this summer with a pair of shorts. We wore them to all the places we traveled just as the characters in the story did. I liked how each character had their own unique story. They were all so different, yet so similar. I could not pick a favorite story, but my favorite character had to be Bridget because she was so outgoing and funny. She reminded me of all of my friends that I missed over the summer. In the end of the book, I don't think that the pants brought luck, but brought the encouragement and support of each other to each character.

  2. The book, The Sisterhood Of The Traveling Pants was a very interesting book. The book might not have been written as descriptive as I was hoping it to be, but it showed how important friends are in life. It made me thankful for the great friends I have. In the beginning of the book, the jeans are introduced as a normal pair of jeans. But eventually, it stands out more that the jeans are going to become more important. That is because the jeans are a symbol of the four girl's friendship, and wherever any of the girls go with the jeans they will have one another with them. Through out the summer it felt that my friends and I were having similar adventures to the girls in the book. For instance, Lena and I were both in different parts of the world with family for a few weeks. This book was a great choice to read over the summer.

  3. The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants was an adventurous book that showed how special friends are. The four girls- Carmen, Lena, Bridget and Tibby- all shared a pair of jeans over the summer and whenever they wore them, the girls would think of each other. This book had a good overall message, which was that it's not what you wear that's magical or provides luck, it's who you are and how you act towards yourself and others. Out of all the girls, Bridget was my favorite because of her confidence and her courage. She didn't stop believing in herself or doing what she thought was right. Sometimes I wish I could be like her all the time. Even though the book wasn't my favorite, the message was one of my favorites because it reinforces the strength that we all have inside ourselves.

  4. The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants was about a group of 4 friends who are spending the summer apart. This book reminded me of how important friends are, and how most people will take friendship for granted. Throughout the book the author switched between the perspectives/stories of the four girls. My favorite character was Bridget because she was brave, and wasn't afraid to follow her heart, even though she had been through some hard times. When the girls received the pants from one of their friends, they thought that they would get lots of luck when they really just reminded themselves of what a great friendship the four of them have together.
